Alexandra James


Ms. James has been dancing since she was eight years old. She received her classical training at the Peoria Ballet and the Rock School for Dance Education, and spent her summers at Ballet Magnificat, Rochester City Ballet, the Rock School, and Peoria Ballet where she studied Balanchine, Vaganova, and Cecchetti. Ms. James trained under Servy Gallardo, Bo and Stephanie Spassoff, Mariaelena Ruiz, Violet Verdy, Erich Yetter, and Rebekah von Rathonyi. She has competed in 4 Youth America Grand Prix competitions and was a finalist in New York in 2012. She spent 2011-2014 as a member of Peoria Ballet’s Ensemble under Artistic Director, Servy Gallardo. Ms. James’ repertoire includes Snow Queen, Dew Drop, Arabian, Mirliton, and Spanish in the Nutcracker; the Queen in Snow White; the Stepmother and Autumn Fairy in Cinderella; as well as several roles in the Peoria Ballet’s 40th and 50th Anniversary Gala, Romeo and Juliet, Art that Rocks, and Changeless Mover.

Ms. James began teaching in 2011, and her experience ranges from beginning ballet through advanced, while her style incorporates a mixture of Balanchine, Vaganova, and Cecchetti. Her focus is on maintaining clean and proper technique, but allowing artistry and the heart to shine through.
